Owner Relations FAQs

Revenue

  • Do you have direct deposit?

Yes, We offer a direct deposit option for revenue recipients. Please print and complete the appropriate company Direct Deposit Enrollment form and return to address on the form. If you chose direct deposit, the check detail will only be available on our website. A paper copy of the revenue detail ("check stub") will no longer be mailed. By selecting the direct deposit payment method, you are waiving your right to receive a paper copy  of the detail and agree to access the check detail on our website. You will receive your detail via e-mail if you provide the required information on the revenue payment direct deposit enrollment form. If you have any questions about the enrollment process, please contact our Division Orders department, 1001 Noble Energy Way  Houston, TX 77070 or 800-220-5824.

  • What will be the amount of my next check/direct deposit?

For security reasons, we do not provide check/direct deposit details over the phone before you receive your check/direct deposit. However, since the revenue detail is made available online at the same time the checks are mailed and the direct deposit is initiated, you are able to view the revenue detail image on the website before the payment arrives. Royalty checks/direct deposits are mailed/initiated around 25th of each month. When the 25th falls on a weekend, bank or company holiday, checks/direct deposits are mailed/initiated on the next business day.

  • How do I change my revenue or royalty address on file?

All address change requests must be submitted in writing. Please complete the Address Change Notification form and send us your request at: Attn: Division Orders, 1001 Noble Energy Way Houston, TX 77070 or by email at divisionorders@nblenergy.com. Please include your name and owner number; old address; new address; last 4 digits of your social security number or tax ID number for verification; daytime phone number with area code; and email address (if available) with a signature. If you have any additional questions please contact the Division Orders department at 800-220-5824.

  • What should I do if I have not received my check or the check I have is older than the 180 days?

Please allow 20 business days to receive your check through the mail. If your check is lost or more than 180 days old, contact the Royalty Relations helpline at the number or address provided above. Note: If you suspect your check has been stolen, written notification is required. You will be advised of our void process, after which we will reissue the check on our next revenue check write.

  • Can I choose to not receive my check detail through the mail?

Yes. We offer a paperless option for revenue recipients. Please print and complete the appropriate Going Paperless form.

Download the Noble Energy Going Paperless form here.

Download the Rosetta Resources Operating LP form here.

  • Why have I not received my check?

One of the most common reasons is that your account has not reached our minimum pay amount. We remit revenue to you only if the balance exceeds $25. Once a year, We  release payment for all amounts that are less than $25.

Occasionally, payments are held due to matters which create uncertainty as to ownership, such as a notice of death, change of address, transfer of property, assignment of interest or legal issues. Payments due are accumulated and released when the matter affecting ownership has been resolved. Inquiries regarding suspense balances must be communicated in writing to our Division Orders department, 1001 Noble Energy Way Houston, TX 77070

Ownership

  • What are royalties?

Royalties are funds payable to the lessor based on oil and natural gas sales.

  • What is a division order?

A division order is the document that lets you know production has started and we are preparing to make distribution of revenue derived from the sale of oil, gas and other hydrocarbons.  A division order is generally used to verify that your name and address is correct as shown for mailing payments and your decimal is accurate to ensure revenue distribution is correct.

  • Where can I get a valuation of my mineral rights?

We do not provide appraisals for interests. Please contact a certified petroleum engineer, a royalty management company or broker to obtain the valuation.

  • What does royalty interest mean?

When the owner of mineral rights signs an oil and gas lease, the lease generally entitles the owner, or lessor, to a specified percentage of revenue from the sale of oil and gas produced from the leased acreage. This percentage of revenue is referred to as the “royalty interest.” (RI). This interest is not subject to any of the costs related to the development, drilling, operations or maintenance of the well. Once the lease has expired and production has stopped, mineral right owners retain their ownership.

Please provide your name, telephone number, owner number and the reason for your request.

  • Why does my DR 0021W not agree with my 1099?

Gross income reported on line 6 of the DR 0021W form may differ from the amount reported on the Federal 1099 form if there are deductions allowed by the state of Colorado that are not allowed on the Federal 1099 form.

  • What do I do with my DR 0021W?

If you are unsure as to what you must do with the Colorado DR 0021W, please consult with your tax advisor.

  • My social security number/tax identification number is incorrect on my DR 0021W form. How can I get this number corrected?

If your social security number or tax identification number is incorrect, please provide us with a corrected W-9 form. This form can be located on the IRS website, www.irs.gov. You can email the corrected W-9 to us at divisionorders@nblenergy.com or mail it to:
